Man I Miss My Crew Today!

This picture pretty much sums it up. This is a busy time of year at work, which means I'm at work early and leave late. When I do get home the kids are ready for bed and could careless about seeing daddy. WORK, who invented it, and when did it become such a significant part of our lives? Don't get me wrong, I'm blessed to have a job and I really like what I do. I just miss my family, and lets face it, life is short. No point in not enjoying the journey! I need to remember this feeling when I'm impatient with my wonderful children at home. Anyways, enough of me venting, back to life.

Our Christmas Gift.

Santa didn't make it to our house this year, instead, the Stork did! Our family is growing! We will be welcoming our 3rd baby in July. We've never been more blind-sided, surprised, caught off guard, panicked...(you get the idea), but after experiencing those emotions, we are THRILLED about our new addition and this special, special blessing we've been given. We'll be sure to keep you posted.

All our love, the Robbins' family.

Grace on her Pulpit.

Today both Ben and Becca are under the weather and decided to stay home from church. Grace & I went to church and then went to breakfast. After you have multiple children it is always special when you get to dedicate individual time to one of them. Needless to say, this morning was a real blessing to both Becca & I. Becca got some much needed extra sleep and I got to have some alone time with Grace. After we got home, Grace decided she'd preach to Becca about Adam & Eve. While Grace can be a handful at times, I'm SO thankful she has a heart for the Lord. My prayer is that this continues through her adolescence.

Have a Blessed New Years!

The Robbins Nest!

Mommy must add that as Grace was reading me her Bible story, it went like this: "On the 4th day of Christmas, God created the fish and the birds!"

fun stuff

ok, I rarely do these things, but since it's been brought to my attention that I have really been slacking in the blogger department, I thought I'd add a little fun to my blog. Feel free to do it and post it on your blog all you fellow bloggers! Enjoy.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? whichever is most handy, but usually wrapping paper, I've had this one humongo roll of wrapping paper for 5 years now, and it's never ending! I'm getting sick of it.

.2. Real tree or artificial? Artificial! We always did a real tree before kids, but now it's too messy and too expensive! I sure miss the lovely scent though.

3. When do you put up the tree? Usually a few weeks after Thanksgiving/before Christmas.

4. When do you take the tree down? Right after New Year's.

5. Do you like eggnog? Unfortunately, I love it! My favorite is Southern Comfort's Vanilla spice!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? My treasured gumball machine, I got it when I was 5 and I'm going to give it to Grace on her 5th Christmas!

7. Hardest person to buy for? It varies from year to year, but most always a male.

8. Easiest person(s) to buy for? My mom and my daughter.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? I do, I have two, they were both given to me and I don't really care for either one, I know that sounds bad! One day I'd like to pick out one myself.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I always mail them, except for this year! (that's why you have not received one). I haven't gotten around to it, I MIGHT do New Year's cards if I find the time.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I can't even remember because I probably gave it away!

12. Favorite Christmas movie? Little Women (It's not really a Christmas movie but for some reason I love to watch it at Christmas time.) While You Were Sleeping and It's a Wonderful Life.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? This year, not until last week!

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes, obviously, I already let that one slip.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Scrapple and Cleaver salad, and my mother-in-laws homemade candy!

16. Lights on the tree? White.

17. Favorite Christmas song? Holy Night and Noel.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We do both, but the past few years we've stayed home.

19. Can you name all Santa's reindeer? Probably not.

20. Angel or Star? Star

21. Open presents Christmas Eve or in the Morning? One on Christmas Eve, the rest on Christmas morning, it's tradition.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? The busyness and stress and the kids' constant sugar high.

23. Favorite ornament? My gumball machine and Ben's airplane.

24. Favorite Christmas dinner? Swedish Meatballs.

25. Favorite Christmas Tradition: We're still working on making our own traditions, but probably making Great-Grandma Cleaver's sugar cookies!

26. What do you want for Christmas this year? 12 months of Merry Maids!

27. What does Christmas mean to you? It is Jesus' birthday. I can't think of anything better to celebrate than God sending His Son to save us!

Post dinner-time activities

(Note: This is a true story, the people and objects you see in these pictures are not actors and were not paid, bribed or pleaded with to stage the following events)

-daddy's doing dishes.
-mommy just bathed kids and is picking up living room.
-kids are...

not in here, but obviously have been...

not in here either...and it's getting worse ...

Ah Ha! (More like, UUGGGHHHHH!)

Now you know why we never make phone calls to friends and family between the hours of 4-8pm!! Happy Monday everyone, the week is just beginning. :)

A classic toddler moment, hasn't every kid done this?!?

So, we've now been in our house for 2 months and we STILL don't have any child locks up (or window treatments, or pictures on the wall, or 1/2 a garage unpacked, but that's beside my point here)...

Ben has discovered where the cereal boxes are and they are in his reach, so this is what happened today, it's not the first time, but mommy's getting a little frusterated, I just had to calm down and take some pics before we lock up the cabinets for GOOD!

Then he decides to swim in the cheerios...

Then he realizes it makes a cool crunching sound if you stomp all over them, but by that time, mommy had put the camera down and made a bee-line for the vacuum. Ahh, what a wonderful invention, since being a mom, my new best friend.
