In an effort to keep everyone updated, we submitted our “Group 1” paper work today. Next, we will be submitting our I-600A form (Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition).
This first step is more or less an in depth background check. Once we get officially approved by our agency and CIS (Citizenship & Immigration Services), we’ll get our home study scheduled. During the home study someone is going to come interview us to make sure we aren’t nuts.
After we get through this initial step, it should take 3-5 months for all of this to be approved. Upon approval we will then get on the official wait list. At that point it will take 7-8 months for us to get a child referred to us, then another couple of months for our court date and travel date!
Thank you all for your continued prayers!

Wow. What are you sharing with the kids about this? What do they think?
they know everything! Ben and Rhett don't understand but Grace is super excited! She has a few friends in her pre-school class that are adopted and we have read books, so she has a good grasp on it. Although, when we were explaining to her that the baby would have a different color of skin, she exclaimed "Can we get a pink one!?!?" Ha.
That is so awesome! I have often thought about adopting and/or fostering children and even more so after watching the Blind Side. There are so many children who need a loving home. I know you all will be such a blessing to this child.
Wow you guys are amazing! What a wonderful thing to do, and an amazing way to add to your family! I have always wanted to adopt so I will be picking your brains when the time comes! Good luck with everything- and remember everything is meant to be- so if everything is moving fast, there is a reason for it! Will he or she be a baby or are you going to adopt an older child?
Hey there - thanks for the kind words over on our blog about our little angel - she's goofball and keeps us on our toes - gonna add you guys to our google reader so we can watch along...
