"Dear Adoption People..."
This letter is just too cute not to share. Some friends of ours that we asked to write a reference letter for our adoption had their kids write one as well. We sent it in with our dossier, so we know it made it to New York, hoping it makes it to Ethiopia, and it will most definitely make it to the baby book! So sweet.

blogging lull due to sunny skies
Sorry I haven't had much to blog about lately, or maybe it's that I've had a ton to blog about and no time to do it, blogging hasn't been very high on the priority list lately. We've had so much warm weather and sunshine and I can't stand to be in front of the computer when there's so much enjoyment to be had and new life to be experienced in my own backyard with the kids! My next post will be one of two exciting events...Rhett's firs steps or we are on the official waitlist for the adoption!! Both are any day now. Until then, here's a clip I love...some heavy stuff to chew on.

Window to the big wide world
Well, Grace lost her first tooth last night. She seems to be an early bloomer on just about everything. I, for one, was so relieved it came out because for the last month she's had this freakishly weird thing going on in her mouth called "shark teeth." About 30% of kids get it, where their adult teeth start coming in behind their baby teeth, so they temporairly have two rows of teeth. We talked to uncle Paul and he said when this happens those baby teeth need to come out soon! She thought it was cool, I found it rather disturbing. So, she (and I) have been wiggling them like crazy for the past week. The bright side is, she'll never have much of a gap!
Kirk got really into this teeth-pulling thing and tied dental floss to her loose tooth, then tied the other end to the door knob and let her practice shutting the door. It came out very easily and I think she was rather relieved that it wasn't as traumatic or painful than she had anticipated!
So, here's our grown-up little girl, with her first window into the big wide world of adulthood!

Flybaby, Fly!
ok....so, organization does not come naturally to me. I envy the BO's (born-organizers). I want long to be organized, I just need a coach, a cheerlearder, someone (other than my mother), to tell me HOW to do it! (and remind me for that matter!)
And so....
all pride put aside, I've totally and whole-hearteldy jumped on the FlyLady bandwagon. I swear, this lady is exactly what I need. The other day, I took my first baby step and spent a good chunk of my morning at the kitchen sink.
Let me backtrack...to pre-kid life, or as the hubby often refers to, when we were DINKs (Duel Income, No Kids). Want to know what excited me? Travel, fine dining, expinsive wine, expensive hobbies, shopping, etc. I could go on and on. Well, things are a little different now (in a wonderful way), but when you are a stay-at-home-mom and have a small tribe of kiddos, ths is the stuff that becomes EXCITING!!!
Take a look at my before and after pictures. I have to admit, halfway through the shinning-of-the-sink experience, I had a complete "OMG! I'm totally becoming my mother!!!" moment, (no offense mom, you rock and you are the cleanest housekeeper/homemaker I know). The thing that frightened me was how much enjoyment and fullfillment I was getting out of this experience, which is exacly what the FlyLady wants. I don't care, I've totally lost it, and I love it! Can you see my reflection in this sink?

shelter from the rain
Wow. Came across this organization tonight.
I'm sitting here on my comfy couch, in my heated home, after a hot meal. It's easy to read this stuff and go back to facebook, or shut my computer and head to bed...it's a little bit harder to do something about it. Haiti is still in need, big time. So, if you have the time, check it out. Even moreso, if you are able and willing, let's help these people!

Give me an "A"
for ALLERGY, that is. Turns out, the poor little babe has quite the reaction to penacillin.
I was joking with Kirk that he's going to run out of room on his medical bracelet with explanations of all the health issues!
Thank God for benadryl, zyrtec and prednisolone (steroids)....hoping that cocktail will work it's magic quickly.

Tasty Tuesday
So, every Valentine's Day, I like to make a special breakfast for my crew. This year was no exception. With all three of our boys being under the weather, Grace and I took the kitchen by storm and tried out this fabulous new pancake recipe! Pink Pancakes! G was in pinkalicious heaven. Before taking a peek at the recipe, does anyone want to take a stab at what made the pancakes pink? I'll give you a clue, it was NOT food coloring!

Later that afternoon, we took the leftover magic pink mixture and added it to our sugar cookie dough to make beautiful masterpieces. I tell ya, I've got a self-professed "cooker-baker" at my fingerstips. The girl loves to get crafty in the kitchen!
