Now this made me laugh! And I needed a good laugh. I got a whopping 4 hours of sleep last night due to a lightning storm, pregnancy pains and kids!

Hike it & Spike it

"Never die easy!" ~ Walter Payton
This is one of Kirk's favorite quotes. He had a great time participating in his 3rd Hike it & Spike it flag football tournament in Roswell. It's getting bigger and better every year, teams from around the country come to participate, a lot of them are ex-pro's and ex-all Americans. And as always, thanks to Maupin Dental, they participated in the "money division" and came home with, you guessed it; zip, nada, nothing. BUT, apparently a great time was had by all. He and BFF Paul get to relive their glory days. I think it was reassuring for both of them to know that they're now in their thirties and still have "it" (whatever that may be)!

Funny

You know your husband's been working too much when you get an email that reads, and I quote:

"Interested in a data night with live music?"

Ha!

Pizza! Pizza!

My co-teacher came to class the other day raving about this. She didn't write down the recipe for me, just told me all that was on it, so the other night I made it and it was AMAZING, very yummy! Made me miss my days of waiting tables at Scarpas in college (a brick oven pizza place, they always had unique pizza's like this). So, I wanted to share the recipe and hope you enjoy it if you make it!
I don't even know what the name of it is but I'll call it:
Chicken Pesto Pizza
Boboli (or other pre-made) pizza crust
Pesto, use a thin layer as the sauce
Tomatoes, sliced thinly, layer all over
Fresh mushrooms, layer all over
Shredded or diced chicken, layer all over
Fresh garlic
Feta cheese (since I didn't want the feta to be too strong, I also added a little mozzarella)
Bake in the over according to the pizza crust directions!

G had a neighbor friend over, so they made their own mini pizzas.
I gave B some sauce and cheese and he thought he was hot stuff, making his own mess.

Our little "Crash"

See my cute boy with the mischievous grin?

See my lovely shelf? (there's a reason there's nothing on it!)

Bet you can predict the outcome of this story!

Monday morning we were getting ready to leave the house. I was in the kitchen packing the kids lunches, Grace was in her room getting her shoes on, and Ben was wondering around as usual. All of a sudden I hear a loud crash and screaming. My heart immediately stopped and I turned around and looked down the hallway to find the bookshelf laying there with little Ben under it, screaming. I had one of those slow-motion moments, where his life passed in front of me and time stood still, it took what seemed like an eternity to get to him, my feet wouldn't move as fast as my mind. When I finally got to him, he was stuck under the shelf but his head was poking through, he was screaming, there was glass and broken things everywhere. (I had a ceramic pot, picture frames and candle holders, all shattered). Grace was standing in her doorway completely freaked out, screaming too. I got Ben out and settled him down. Once I realized there was no serious damage that I could see to his body, I stripped him down and put him in the bath, a. because I knew it would help him stop crying and b. so I could get a look over his body and head. Miraculously, there were no cuts or gashes and no bleeding! He had some bad marks on his back, but that was it. I called his nurse right away and she was here within 3 hours. I think he had forgotten about it by then, although it took me a few hours to stop shaking.

We tease about putting him in bubble wrap, but I tell you, God has an invisible bubble wrap of protection all around that boy. I'm amazed he was even conscience, let alone, no gashes or bleeding! I am so thankful he's ok! I'm not sure what we're going to do with the shelf, he had never tried anything before, but I'm pretty sure he was climbing it because the next day, I found him climbing the ladder in our garage that was up against the wall. I had been unloading groceries from the car and when I came out for another load, he was on the 3rd step, patiently squatting there saying "help! help!" He is sure keeping us on our toes these days! We've officially dubbed him as "crash!"
